Education is how individuals acquire knowledge, skills, talents, socialization, attitudes, beliefs, practices, and personal growth. Education includes teaching, training, learning, counseling, discussion, and applied research. Education has various components, such as how people learn; the resources and activities that support learning; and evaluation of learning and teaching. The education process includes learning, evaluating, preserving, and improving knowledge and learning techniques and frameworks. Education also involves the evaluation and promotion of learning and teaching strategies and practices.
Education includes both formal and informal education. Formal education comprises the study of learning and educational policies, theories, learning concepts, and pedagogy. In contrast, informal education is concerned with practicing and applying those theories, concepts, and pedagogy. A policy in education is a set of rules or directions to be followed by an educational institution.
In informal education, children are encouraged to interact and learn by participating in activities, programs, events, games, and other opportunities offered by the school, other community organizations, and home. Informal education is a part of the curriculum and aims at enhancing children’s potential for social and emotional development while preparing them for future work and life choices.
Informal learning processes vary from classroom to classroom. They include direct experience, simulations, field trips, workshops and visits, in-class and field trips abroad, literature reviews, and casual games. Non-formal education includes vocational training, technical instruction, vocational education, adult education, primary or higher education, and adult education classes.
Formal education is comprised of disciplines such as sciences, liberal arts, social sciences, psychology, education, and physical sciences. Non-formal education includes adult education classes, community education, high school, and secondary schools. These include associate degree programs, certification, and graduate schools.
